HER LAW functions on a membership basis. You give us R60 per month and we give you 24 hour-access to our legal team. We also throw in a funky membership card, a printed membership guide, as well as informative electronic newsletters educating you on your rights. Remember to have your membership number handy whenever you make contact with us.

Now you have easy access to HER LAW’s services and benefits. The best part is that we have a 24-hour emergency line, so you can get into trouble any time day or night and we’ll look after you. But, in case you are not the kind of lady who gets into trouble at 3am on a Sunday morning, you may personally consult with us during the day at our offices, fax, write or e-mail us your legal problems.

HOW TO REPORT A NEW CASE:
Should you encounter a legal problem or even just require some advice on a matter, please contact our Contact Centre.

Your instruction will be taken and a case file opened. Your file will be transferred to your nearest regional office from where a friendly and competent mediator will offer you professional guidance and assistance in solving the matter.

HER LAW’s legal advisors and mediators deal with each and every problem in the strictest confidence. We know that you do not want the world to know about your slight transgressions. You will be advised of your rights in the particular case and the steps that are to be taken. HER LAW’s legal advisors will then mediate on your behalf in order to solve your problem as soon as possible and to reach an amicable settlement. The extent of these services are limited to R60 000 litigation cover and R100 000 mediation cover per membership per year. You may thus make use of us as many times as required, subject thereto that the total value of services, including expenses incurred by HER LAW, does not exceed these amounts per year. There is no limitation on the amount of legal costs savings during a member’s lifetime of membership.
As a result of many years of practical experience and research regarding the specific needs of the women, the advice and services required, HER LAW has structured the product in a specific format that is user friendly and will at all times, save the member a considerable amount of money. The structure consists of three main benefits, namely: Basic Benefit, Mediation Benefit and Litigation Benefit.

Her Basic Benefit

The Basic Benefit, as from the commencement date, entitles the member to free legal and labour advice for the full term of membership on any private legal matter irrespective of whether the cause of action arose before or after joining HER LAW. Assistance under the Basic Benefit is limited to advice only and will not include correspondence or intervention by HER LAW where the origin of the cause of action was established prior to the commencement date of membership.

Her Mediation Benefit

The Mediation Benefit entitles the member to free informal mediation and assistance for the full term of membership on any private legal matter that arose after the commencement date (i.e. where origin of the cause of action was established after the member's first membership fee was received). The Mediation Benefit was especially incorporated in this product to surmount the standard exclusions set by underwriters of legal loss insurance worldwide. This implies that should a legal matter not fall within the ambit of a Litigation matter, HER LAW's legal advisors and mediators will still attempt to solve such a legal or labour problem by way of assistance, informal mediation and negotiations with no further cost for the member.

HER LAW attempts to solve the problem under the Mediation Benefit by opening files on behalf of the member, writing letters, making telephone calls, sending faxes, consulting, etc. In other words: The member is NOT only telephonically or personally advised, but the necessary steps are taken by HER LAW's advisors on behalf of the member. Except for business related matters, there are no exclusions under this benefit, which means that HER LAW will help the member in her personal capacity with any legal problem up to the point where litigation is inevitable.

Her Litigation Benefit

The Litigation Benefit is available for matters which occur after the 1 (one) month waiting period. The benefit entails assistance by an attorney or advocate as legally compelled or the physical representation of a member in any legal forum. This includes the courts for criminal and civil matters, disciplinary hearings, CCMA, labour and family court matters. It further includes the drafting of documentation, which must be signed and stamped by the Clerk of the Court e.g. summonses.
You dread that phone call from a police officer who tells you that your 16 year old son was caught stalking the new neighbour’s daughter. Now, you can relax, because your HER LAW membership also covers your children under the age of 21, as long as they reside in South Africa and are not fugitives from justice and are still living with mommy.
